Affordable Resilience: A System Under Strain

Australia’s housing system is under immense pressure — affordability, resilience, and equity are now deeply entangled.

At the AHURI National Housing Conference, I posed a question that continues to guide my work:
Can design operate not just as an outcome, but as a driver of housing feasibility?

Because when we begin every project with “how much can we afford?”, we often forget to ask:
“What kind of value are we creating?”
